" ... And They Have Escaped The Weight Of Darkness " is the Olafur's maturity album and you immediately feel it in the compositions, more structured with piano and strings in evidence. His music is always on the verge of intimism and melancholy like desaturated images reminiscent of old photos or landscapes in slow motion with immense skies and big clouds. The opening of the album is in perfect Olafur style, "Thu Ert Solin and Thu Ert Jordin" reminds Sigur Ros, the piano and strings make your mind to travel where only with thinking you can go. The performance of the compositions, however, are less melancholy and more solar as in the songs "Undan Hulu" and "Hafa Thau Sloppið Undan þunga Myrkursins" where the stupendous opening of the strings in the central part of the song can open the hardest heart and make you breathe deeply. Definitely not an album to listen every day, but to listen in moments of warmth. Olafur knows the emotions he give us with his piano.
