With this latest release, Green Day continue to illustrate that they're one of the biggest bands in the world - with no intention of backing down. Picking up where they left off with 2005's "American Idiot", the Berkeley boys create yet another concept record as daunting in subject matter and huge in sound as the snot-nosed brats from the 90s could have ever dreamed about. From the anthemic "Know your Enemy" through the balladesque, dreamy "Last Night on Earth", they once again bend the rules of the punk rock/rock genre, blurring the lines and making it clear that they do what they want - with amazing results. Combined with a pyrotechnic-filled stage show, the band's unapologetic in-your-face attitude and seemingly boundless energy, it seems they've found their niche in catering to no one while keeping both devoted fans and new devotees thirsty for more.
