Guadacanal Diary is a Georgia band who's music has often compared to early R.E.M. Hailing from Marietta, they often were linked to the 1980's Athens scene that boasted so mmany great bands. "2 x 4" is their 3rd full length CD, produced by the legendary Don Dixon. This particular re-issue includes many extra bonus tracks of demos. Out of all of their LP's, this one gained the most critical acclaim. Songs like "Get Over It" (do you think the Eagles ripped this off??) "Lips Of Steel" and the Beatles cover "And Your Bird Can Sing" are very excellent and noteworthy. Unfortunately, the band split in 1989, only to reform a few times. This is well worth buying, if you enjoy R.E.M. in the early days!
