Coming back two years after their first major label release "The Fiction We Live," "Abandon Your Friends" has the major label sound to it that came with "The Fiction We Live" and mixed with some of their harder tones from their first few releases. "Abandon Your Friends," the album name is taken to a literal meaning with what has happened to this album with the near-absent vocal contribution from lead singer Ben Perri and with his soon after departure. Francis Mark does well to compensate for the absence of Ben for the less heavy tracks, but there definitely is a spark missing between the two vocalists that was apparent in the previous album. Here, they both basically sing there own tracks, besides the opener "Where Do You Draw The Line?" If you enjoy the near-absence of Ben from the album and prefer Francis for lead vocals, may I suggest taking a look at their next effort "Holding A Wolf By The Ears."
