I've been a fan of Lecrae for a few years now, and I can say that with each album, he gets even better, which makes me wonder what his next album will be like, because Anomaly was not just one of the best hip-hop albums of 2014, but one of the best in general. The song "Messengers" won a grammy recently.
Lecrae really knows who to collaborate with on his features. With guests like for KING & COUNTRY, Kari Jobe, and Andy Mineo to name a few, the sound is bolstered even more. All this and I haven't even gotten to the fact that you will be hard pressed to find an artist whose songs have so much meaning behind them.
Throughout the album, several topics are discussed. In "Nuthin", Lecrae is pretty begging his fellow rappers to stop talking about the typical money, sex, cars, etc that fill most of hip hop today, and instead talk about deeper matters.
"Say I Wont" is a song that fights back against all those people who tell us that we can't do something great. This song is a bit of an anthem saying, "Yes we can".
Then you transition to darker songs such as "Good, Bad, Ugly" where Lecrae talks about his own dark past of being molested, as well as other people's stories.
In "Runners" Lecrae is asking listeners to fight that lust that can lead to so many problems. He talks of being faithful to the woman you have, and not letting those lustful thoughts control you.
"Messengers" is a call to all Christians to stand up in their faith and not be ashamed of what they believe.

Anomaly will evoke so many emotions as you listen to it. You will experience the full spectrum of emotions, as each song is so unique and different from the rest. Great purchase!
