Chris
Though not met with outstanding critical or commercial acclaim, I would consider this to be an excellent album. Lady Gaga, despite what many might have to say about her, is a musician and a perfectionist through and through. If you listen to these tracks through a pair of high quality speakers or headphones, you'll hear what I would call a phenomenal attention to detail. The harmonies, the synth-layers, the interplay between all of the sonic chaos she has created on this record is funneled through her artistic vision, infectious passion and is curated with a great deal of care.

One of the major criticisms of this album is that it lacks a solid theme, as opposed to her past records "The Fame", "The Fame Monster" and "Born This Way". However, I would argue that this is where the charm of "ARTPOP" lies. Gaga fearlessly trips from genre to genre with ease, making the theme more of an open-ended one, "My ARTPOP could mean anything". Exploring sonic/musical territory such as: progressive house, psychedelic trance, 70s-80s grooves, glam rock, space-rock, disco, psychedelic rock, trap, electro-rnb, complextro, industrial rock, heavy metal, piano driven classic-rock and much more, Gaga proves herself a true student and lover of music on "ARTPOP".
