Coldplay delivers a song that is actually really beautiful. It’s a mid-tempo track with some great piano and a really solid vocal performance from Chris Martin. The song fits well with the themes of Catching Fire. The verses are very mellow, with piano swirling into some really nice electronic flourishes throughout the track. The production is very big but vast and clear. Worth a download.
This song is a perfect complement to the beautiful soundtrack by James Newton Howard for the film "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." The initial melody on the piano can be heard in "We're A Team", when Katniss and Peeta Effie greets moved.
"Atlas" by Coldplay is a deeply emotional song featured in the blockbuster hit movie, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." With traditional movie soundtracks, it always seems like the producers chose the songs after the fact, and this may well have been done with "Atlas," but the song is so incredibly appropriate for the film that you get the idea that Chris Martin (Coldplay singer/songwriter) wrote the lyrics and song especially for the movie after seeing a preview. I don't know if this was the case, but the lyrics of Atlas hit you hard as you watch the film, for example:
Some saw the sun
Some saw the smoke
Some heard the gun
Some bent the bow
Sometimes the wire
Must tense for the note
We're caught in the fire, say oh
We're about to explode

Atlas is a powerful single from Coldplay and worth a download. If you don't believe me, then believe the Grammy award judges who have nominated the song for an award for best song for a movie soundtrack. 4.5 stars.
