I agree with the first reviewer. I first heard Jon Bonamassa's album "Dust Bowl" so I decided that I would try "Black Rock". And once again, I'm impressed. I heard "Steal Your Heart Away" and I still like JB. I'm a new fan of his and will be checking out other albums. Caprice makes it very easy to expand your musical taste as I said in many reviews, but i couldn't say it if it weren't true for me.

I also agree with last reviewer when he says that the rocker songs are the best ones. It's not flashy at all.

You generally know, by now, what you're going to get with JB. This is no different but he continues to improve. The usual solid blend of rock, blues fast and slow all underpinned by his superlative playing. I find it never flashy or self indulgent(at least on studio tracks), enhancing the song rather than dominating.
A little experimetal acoustic/local instrumentation doesn't work too well (Athens to Athens) and one of the covers, Bird On A Wire feels a little balnd on here (far better live) or self indulgent.
The rockier tracks are best: "Fire Meets the Sea" bounces along and will snare you in it's feel good spirit.
The undoubted highlight is "Black Rock" which, well, rocks like a demon. A superbly constructed song with the heaviest riff for a long time. Worth the entry fee alone.
If you like JB, this will enhance his standing with you. It's worth a try for the unconvinced. For the (few) unconverted, probably not the "killer" album you're looking for.
