This album it very peaceful but at the same it does not lack energy or interesting songwriting. There is such a minimalist approach to the writing on the album but the band still presents tunes that are compelling. Alot of this album reminds me of some of the material from groups like the xx and sales. The biggest diffrence that stands out woth this album is that it is much more upbeat and it is not as ambient. But I love that the band writes such good songs that even without walls of reverb and effects, the music is still amazing. That not to say they never use any effects, but the mixes are kept as raw and dry as possible I'm a way which means that you hear every detail in an unfiltered way.

It's also important to note that this band also shares members with the indie grouo kings of convinience. This is important because that group is primarily based on acoustic guitar writing and vocal harmonies. While this project does not use any acoustic guitar on this album, the songwriting is so excellent because there is a deep understanding of harmony and melody. The whitest boy alive as a group has taken the singer songwriter approach to writing thier form of alternative rock.

Because singer songwriter music is often minimalist in the sense that you have very few parts which all carry significant weight, you have to be careful to choose all of the right notes. And this album is incredibly consistant and engaging in that regard. I will likely listen to this album for years to come because it is so down to earth.
