There is no doubt Bring Me the Horizon's sound has matured over time. You only need to listen to a song from Count Your Blessings, then a song from Sempiternal to figure that one out. Yes they've changed, and there seems to be a pretty significant divide between those who like the new sound, and those who don't. Personally, I really love it. The single Drown is by far the most different sounding song they've ever written, in that Oli Sykes makes use of clean vocals for most of the song. Now their sound has matured, yes, but the meaning within all their songs? It's only gotten better. When you take the time to listen to the lyrics of Drown, and as I did, do some digging into Oli's struggles with the drug, ketamine, it becomes a truly emotional journey, which is what the world needs more of in the music industry. The new sound: you might like it, you might not, but the meaning? If you liked their old songs, then I can almost guarantee that you'll like this. I'm very excited to hear some new stuff from their upcoming album, and would definitely recommend this to those who liked Sempiternal.
