John 5 is best known for being Marilyn Manson's guitarist from 1998 to 2004 and Rob Zombie's guitarist from 2005 to present. John 5 is one of the best metal guitarist in the business and documented by this his 6th solo disc called "God Told Me To". And John gets very diverse on this outing from metal to acoustic. This 10 song disc is half electric and half acoustic and has a fantastic instrumental cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" he did a awesome job replacing the vocals with lead guitar. The first shock on disc is the song "Asland Bump" a acoustic number with a real down south bluegrass feel to it, very unexpected from a metal guitarist but he does it well. The next real shock is "Noche Acosador" now John switches gears to take on Spanish guitar. It has a real poncho and sombrero feel to it. Again awesome tune and my favorite on disc. Great instrumental disc but I think the 5 acoustic numbers really shine. The other 5 electric tunes is what you would expect from John 5 but he really shines a light on his softer acoustic side. One of the better instrumental discs' I heard in quite awhile. Highly Recommended
