On his first solo album, Mark Knopfler, the former leader of Dire Straits, shows once again his ability to mix Scottish-inspired themes together with British rock and nuances of country. Golden Heart, the track that gives the name to the album, is a demonstration of his soft voice, together with the ability to make his guitar sing. Imelda, on the other hand, displays a more aggressive guitar riff, with a timbre one can relate to his days of Money for Nothing. My personal favorite, however, is Darling Pretty, the opening track. The guitar solo is one of those you just wish it would never end.
