One of the best albums from 2014. Good Charlotte meets Beach Boys meets innovative, new sounds... and always catchy.
Highs: really, every minute is solid, but U R, Jealousy (All Your Friends in Silverlake), and Good Gracious Abbey are especially memorable, as well as We Are Done, and anthemic song about taking a stand for whatever you're passionate about.
Lows: Love Pretenders is musically less boundary-pushing than most of the other songs, but not bad by any means.
Even though it's a different sound than Good Charlotte, you can still hear the same Madden Brothers rhythm and heart that was on the original Good Charlotte demos like "Gravity Girl." There's a rare authenticity about their music, and not many artists retain that for so long. They manage to write songs that both fulfill the accessible catchiness of pop music and yet are anchored with honesty.
