Heaven & Hell would be the first album without crazy front man Ozzy Osborne, and most people thought they wouldn't last without him either. Little did they know that a great vocalist with a different style of singing would come along, that would be Ronnie James Dio from Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Elf. The truth of the matter is that Sabbath's last few albums were very lackluster to say the least. With this new singer and new sense of purpose they came up with Heaven & Hell. The first song Neon Knights comes out at you with a vengeance great pounding guitar and vocals. Children Of The Sea has that classic Sabbath sound but with Dio's touch, this is a more up to date Metal sound than the doom and gloom of the early 70's. Heaven & Hell the title track has got to be their best in my opinion, Lady Evil and Wishing Well are just great Metal Classics. Lonely is the Word is a great song with Ronnie's voice at its best and Toni Iommi's guitar is magical this song is slow rock almost bluesy but it is one of their finest. Ronnie only stayed with the band on a few albums but what a change in direction for Black Sabbath, now don't get me wrong I love the Ozzy's Black Sabbath its one of favorite metal bands, also this is just another rebirth that will be heavy metal history.
