Can I give this one six stars? Please? Five stars just doesn't express how I love this song. You just gotta close your eyes and take a moment to listen to "If I Had a Gun." "Excuse me if I spoke too soon, my eyes have always followed you around the room..." This is an unbelievably gorgeous non-traditional love song with amazing lyrics. Too many adjectives? Sorry, I'm enthusiastic about this one. :)

Now, I'm a recent convert into diehard Oasis fandom (particularly Noel Gallagher's work) and love his solo "High Flying Birds" album. "If I Had a Gun..." has grown into my favorite single from the album however (reluctantly pushing "The Death of You and Me" into second favorite). And the music videos to these songs are impressive as well. The video for this one starts off a "trilogy" of sorts, with Noel playing the part at a priest at a wedding that doesn't go off as planned when the bride is stolen away by her cowboy lover who, after diving into the swimming pool after her, rides her off into the sunset on horseback. The video ends up with Noel arriving at the diner where the "Death of You and Me" video takes.

So, anyway, thank you mp3caprice for getting this single so I can download the B-side as well! "I'd Pick You Every Time." It sounds like it will be a really nice little track. Five (six?) solid stars for "If I Had a Gun...." Thank you Noel Gallagher for writing this beautiful song.
