This, in my opinion, is the best Emperor album ever released. Emperor is one of the black metal pioneers and the first full length record of this Norwegians proves it. There is no weak spot in this album. All songs are interesting and memorable, however you will need at least 5-10 hearings to get into it. The atmosphere is fantastic, extremely fast guitars followed by decent keyboards, screaming vocals and even some clean vocals performed by Ihsahn. Faust on drums is insane as always. Even when the production is not the best, this still might be the greatest black metal release ever and anyone interested in extreme metal will surely enjoy this!
