Benson's progress between 1964 and 1965 was nothing short of astonishing. This was his debut for Columbia, after being signed by A&R man John Hammond Jr., who also produced this set. Benson is joined here by Ronnie Cuber on baritone sax, Lonnie Smith (not to be confused with Lonnie Liston Smith) on organ, and either Jimmy Lovelace or Ray Lucas on drums. Three vocal numbers complement the instrumentals.
