This was Roxette's follow-up to Look Sharp, which was a big hit for the Swedish duo. Joyride is a bouncy, catchy song, the best of the second album. For a time, you'd hear everyone saying, "Hello, you fool, I love you!" The lyrics are ridiculous, but that's part of it's charm. The opening sounds like they're at a carnival, and there is a party atmosphere with crowd noises at the start. Then the lyrics imply that everyone is taking a hot air balloon ride. The song is filled with metaphors, but they are really unimportant, it's the beat, the rhyming and the tone of the song that will make it or break it for you.

The remixes are fine; you pretty much know what you are getting from the original version, they just take the catchiest parts and extend them. like Per Gessel and Marie Fredriksson, the members of Roxette, have a great command of their audience. They do some great ballads, but when they just want to have fun, they are killer. It's a fun song, worth giving a listen.
