"JT" is singer songwriter James Taylor's 8th studio LP. This LP begins a new chapter for Taylor, after his long standing with Warner Brothers Records and early stint with the Beatle's Apple Records. Despite his constant battle of drug addiction, "JT" weighs in as one of Taylor's best. It featuring the outstanding work of bandmates/rhythm section of Danny "Kootch' Kortchmar, Lee Sklar and Russ Kunkel . Taylor won a Grammy as the 'Best Male Pop Vocal Performance' for his chart-topping version of the Jimmy Jones cover, "Handy Man".

The LP begins with "Your Smiling Face", a great, upbeat optimistic opener. "Honey, Don't Leave L.A." (written by Kootch) could be the LP's best rock oriented track. "Secret O' Life" is probably the best ballad Taylor has ever recorded. Awesome message, simplistic and heartfelt. His then wife Carly Simon guests & co-writes on the song "Terra Nova". Aside from "Handy Man", "Traffic Jam" is probably the weakest cut here.

Peter Asher deserves a huge acclaim here, making this a great CD. Throughout his career, Taylor has mixed his acoustic guitar-based folk roots with elements of rock, blues, and country. But on "J.T.", he hits a home run on all of these styles & levels. Buy it!!!!
