What makes Lanterns a great album is that it has all the intensity and feeling of an award winning movie but as a stand alone album. It's pretty much like Son Lux is making the soundtrack to the movies in their heads. And let me tell you those would be some great movies if this is any reflection of them.

This album is dramatic and intense while also having moments of gentle self reflection that could almost bring you to tears. Lantern is full of wild sounds that dark and mysterious but also pretty epic. Tracks like "easy" and "lost it to trying" are perfect examples of the epic adventure Son Lux wants to take listeners on.

This album also ebbs and flows the same way a movie soundtrack does. With an introduction like "Alternate Wolrds" the stage is really set for an epic journey. And the ending track "lantern lit" is a perfect epilogue because it leaves a sense of closure on the album but also makes you feel like the story isn't over the same way the ending of a movie would. And in the case of son lux, the story is definitely not over after this album but this is in my opinion the best part of the story so far.
