Latest release from Eclipse (2017). More of the same from this excellent metal band. Erik Martensson as always delivers excellent riffs and scorching solos, many times sounding like Doug Aldrich (ex-Whitesnake). The songs are very tight and the album has a very good production (sound, and mix), and of course all musicians deliver and dominate their instrument. Unfortunately most of the songs sound very similar to previous releases or are not as catchy as previous efforts. If you are familiar with Elipse you will hear the same tight songs with nonsense lyrics. If you have never heard of them, better start off with the album Bleed & Scream. That album has a lot of catchy hooks, good melodies, and better song compositions. Nevertheless Monumentum has one of the best songs written by the band and it is the last one on the album called "Black Rain". This is definitely the standout song. Other good songs are "No Way Back", "Never Look Back", and "Vertigo".
