If you dislike the Go! Team in anyway you probably stay indoors on sunny days, think every baby you’ve ever seen is ugly and try to steer clear from all that ‘laughing and joking’ happy people seem to enjoy. The fact is the Go! Team are more boisterous than a child in an artificial colouring factory. The formulae for their music have always been an inoffensive form of pop with lashings of hip hop thanks to the vocal stylings of Ninja. Her Hip Hop efforts are best seen on the opening track T.O.R.N.A.D.O which paves the way for the rest of the energetic charm – perhaps seen at its very best in ‘Buy Nothing Day’. The Go! Team are no strangers to fame and success, their debut album Thunder, Lightning, Strike was nominated for the Mercury Music prize for their fresh sounds. The only criticism for the album may be how familiar it sounds to the nominated first album, but it’s a great sound so theirs very little to complain about.
If you’ve heard and love the likes of Los Campesinos!, Yuck or Cults then its hugely recommended. On the other hand you may have never heard of the likes of them before – in which case I would recommend you get yourself involved in the modern days 60’s pop that they offering up here. A great listen all round, grab yourself something new!
