Humble Pie is a British band, initially formed in 1967 by ex Herd guitarist Peter Frampton & ex Small Faces vocalist Steve Marriott. Ex Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley eventually came aboard and young drummer Jerry Shirley (who did some work with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour) By the time Humble Pie's breakthrough LP "Live At The Fillmore" came out (4 years & Lp's later), Frampton quietly left the band to pursue a more 'acoustic based' solo career. By then, Marriott had taken charge of Humble Pie with his powerful rock/soul presence & extraordinary front person stamina. U.S. markets were lovin', so the concert scene for Humble Pie grew leaps and bounds. "Smokin'" is the first studio LP without Frampton, who was adequately replaced by Collesuem's guitarist Dave 'Clem' Clempson. "Hot And Nasty" starts of the record and it's super infectious! "Thirty Days In The Hole" received major FM airplay back in it's day and it's another winner! Ridley's lead vocal on "Sweet Peace And Time" and Marriott's "The Fixer" are other standout tracks. Generally, when a band loses one of their founding key musicians, it loses something. But in Humble Pie's case, they carried on well. Buy it!!
