Born Of Osiris are a young band who I thought had all the potential in the world, but failed to capitalize on it with their first two albums. On "The Discovery" however, BOO have truly come into their own. It is 15 tracks that incorporate everything they had done before with the sumeriancore sound, but the songwriting has stepped up tenfold, with interesting lyrical themes, masterful guitar work, and beautiful use of keyboards. "Follow The Signs" in an outstanding start to a sprawling and intricate album. It is immediately arresting in a way that Born of Osiris have never managed to be before. Lead singer Ronnie Canizaro sounds ferocious, and filled with purpose. "The Discovery" also has uses atmosphere to great effect on songs like "Two Worlds of Design" and "The Omniscient". Album highlight would have to be "Dissimulation", which can easily be considered the best song BOO have written yet. I had initially written Born of Osiris off, finding them a little pedestrian, but with "The Discovery" they have landed squarely in the center of my radar and I'm really excited to hear what they come up with next. Highly recommended.
