Another solid release by the shred master, Joe Satriani. "The Extremist"is his 4th studio album playing along a tight band. The songs in the album flow very well. The mix is well done. Lots of memorable melodies and incredible guitar playing. All the songs are great. Standouts are "Friends", "The Extremist", "War", "Summer Song", and "Motorcycle Driver". These songs have so much energy and the titles make you sense the feelings within them. These are to be play at loud volumes. "Cryin", "Rubina's Blue Sky Of Happiness", and "Tears In The Rain" are beautiful ballads that evoke many feelings. The album closes with a blues song titled "New Blues" which has some nice grooves, leaving you wanting to listen to the whole album again.

This album proves why Joe is the best at shredding and guitar instrumental rock.
