Byrds & Flying Burrito Brothers founder Chris Hillman does a splendid job on this 2005 release. I happened to see the tour of this CD, so I was treated to a great concert including a lot of this material. "The Other Side" is Chris' 6th solo CD, but because he has such a wealth of other CD releases with other groups the CD sounds so mature and fresh. Starting with a re-working of the Byrds' classic "Eight Miles High", Chris puts his rootsy bluegrass/gospel stamp over most of the CD. The CD features longtime musical partner Herb Pederson and fantastic vocalist Jennifer Warnes. Firefall and Steven Still's Mannasas' "It Doesn't Matter" surfaces again here on the CD, with another great arrangement. All and all, this is a worthwhile CD to buy if you like Chris Hillman, The Byrds, Bluegrass music and/or all of the above!!
