Easily one of Blackmores Night's top three albums, 'The Village Lanterne' shows a great step up from the 2003 masterpiece 'Ghost of a Rose'. Candice's vocals on This album are stronger than any other albums they put out after 2006 (apparently due to her pregnancy). A track by track review in my honest opinion would be:

"25 Years": The opening track is one of my favorites, starting with an eastern drum which is very catchy. This shows Candice's Voice at its top notch; the chorus is simply beautiful. A much Stronger opener than the previous "Way To Mandalay".

"Old Village Lanterne" : Not one of my favorites, a pretty basic song with so-so lyrics. Still an ok listen.

"Guess It Doesn't Matter Anymore": now we're getting somewhere! The heavy riffs, hard rocking drums and the great vocals make this a huge standout . A 10 for this one.

"Village Dance" and "The Messenger " are two sweet instrumentals, not unlike their previous ones. You end up wishing they were a bit Longer!

"World Of Stone": Ah, another favorite of mine. The chants at the beginning are perfection, and the vocals are simply haunting. Also amazing live, so I recommend the live version as well.

"Faerie Queen" : Another strong track. The beginning is slow and soothing, and ends with loud renaissance style guitar and strings. Reminds me of "Peasants Promise", a marvelous son which would come in "Secret Voyage"

The rest if the album is a bit hit and miss, but the covers are all amazing. Die-hard Deep pure fans will call "Mond Tanz/Child in Time" Blasphemous, but I thin or is an amazing rendition of the seventies classic. "St. Theresa" is my favorite rocker on this album, but the focal point is none other than the cover duet of the Rainbow hit, "Street Kf Dreams" great album, Highly recommend.
