A great album, very melodic and well-done (a classic now, too). It's basically mellow 12-string guitar passages and vocals interspersed with more powerful, louder climaxes and booming bass. Anthony Phillips was a member of Genesis in the early days, and you can certainly hear the influence to some degree. However, this is more upbeat-sounding and quirky than Genesis-- each song emphasizes a distinct feeling, and those are, more often than not, positive. The album art says it all: this is a folk-colored journey through a whimsical world.

I would like to have seen more rockin' guitar solos from Anthony, as I know he was a great 6-string player as well as 12-string. There is sort one in Birdsong and Reprise, but I can tell that epic guitar solos aren't at all the theme of this album, which is OK. Each song is unique, but they do for the most part have the same or similar instrumentation and sound, so you could be forgiven for saying "the whole damn album sounds the same". Nevertheless, it's a very beautiful sound, and far from repetitive. The vocals are great, as they convey a great deal of emotion and articulation. Audio quality is good in this remastered version (although it preserves the seventies analog sound some people love so much), and the quality is indeed 320kbps as advertised.

Overall, I recommend this album to anyone who's a fan of early Genesis, because this album takes that influence in a very interesting and beautiful direction. It's calming but not boring, and it has its fair share of incredible/epic moments. Check it out!
