While I am not often fond of electronic scores, I found this one quite effective in the movie. The pulsing of the lower strings and the drone of the synthesizer really drove the action and helped build tension. While I am fond of John Powell's often frenetic orchestral and choral scores for X-men 2 & 3, I found myself intrigued and accepting of this musical departure. I think because it is a prequel and a "reboot," the score needed a different feel, which I believe worked very well. Stand-out tracks include "First Class," "Rage and Serenity," "Sub Lift," and "Coup d'Etat."
