This is the debut release from this Los Angles group. Led by Spain’s Shon Sullivan this is a very promising debut that shows a ton of potential. The music is soft, beautiful and vibrant the whole way through with not one track sounding bland. Mister Sullivan has an amazing voice that compliments his music extremely well.
‘Sing another song for the winterlong’ is a pleasant piece with a very catchy melody. The title track is a beautifully crafted, sweet pop song. ‘Twenty months in a hail storm’ is a cold yet wonderful epic. ‘Sunlight through the fog’ is a chilling two minute instrumental. Elliot Smith lends his voice on the magnificent ‘Summertime.’ ‘Kittens of lust’ and the closing track ‘almost perfect’ see David McConnell take on the lead vocals and pull them off stunningly. ‘Big city’ lights is an interesting track that sounds like it’s being sung over a telephone with television noises mixed in.
This is a simply superb release that has an atmospheric feel and very colourful textures amongst the sound. If you like bands such as the Primitive Radio Gods or Spain then you should definitely check this band out and look out for more of their work in the future.
