"Down In L.A." is the 1969 debut CD by singer/songwriters Michael Brewer and Tom Shipley. Originally released on A&M records, this CD is beautifully remastered and sounds great. Apparently, the duo began in the midwest and then settled into the L.A. music scene; signing with A&M to record this debut LP. Songs like "An Incredible State Of Affairs" and "Keeper of the Keys" have a touch of psychedelic folk to them, along with vocals very similar to deep cuts by the Association. The solid production, assisted by Jerry Riopelle. This CD is slightly different (in a good way) from their later LP's; mainly because they sound more 'West Coast' on this CD. For fans of Buffalo Springfield, The Association & The Byrds. Excellent!!
