The beginning of Razor starts with Executioner's Song. This album is overlooked sometimes due to the fact that Evil Invaders was released later the same year (1985). If you are not familiar with Razor, they are one of the best thrash bands to ever come out of Canada. They had a good run up until the late 1990's with a very strong discography. Razor never really changed their sound during the 1990's which was rare when you look at what other thrash bands were doing at the time, but I digress.
Executioner's Song falls right on the edge of hardcore punk and thrash. This album was was Razor discovering the sound that they would soon be known for, thrash. You'll notice when you you give this album a listen that the vocals scream hardcore punk. The guy is just screaming away like every other punk at, but the music goes back and forth between punk and thrash, but there is way more thrash than punk. Some of the stand out songs are Take the Torch, Fast and Loud, Escape the Fire, Hot Metal, and Time Bomb. These are also the thrashiest songs on the album in my opinion. Being a thrash metal fan, I like to go back in time and discover new music and that's how I came across Razor. Do yourself a favor and check them out. The MP3 I bought from mp3caprice was top notch, so buy with confidence.
