Blackmore's night is indeed one of the most controversial bands out there. Hard Rock Elitists never miss the chance to bash this band, call Ritchie a 'Sell Out', or Candice a 'Blackmore's Ono', but I truly believe this is the best era of his career. Is it so hard to believe that he truly enjoys playing this kind of music? Isn't it obvious that he has always been interested in renaissance style folk music? What are classic Rainbow tracks like 'Rainbow Eyes' and 'Still I'm Sad' but clues of whats to come?

Now, lets get the point. 'Ghost Of A Rose' is one the strongest Blackmore's Night albums, showing them a their musical peak. the album starts with an addictive violin opener on 'Way to Mandalay', sucking you in until Ritchie's Guitar hits. Candice's voice and songwriting is at its developing peak throughout the album, especially on the wonderful cover of Joan Baez's 'Diamonds and Rust'. Personally, I can't stand the original, but Candice's Sexy vocals and the emotion she puts in the song improves it tenfold. The other cover on this album is one of my all time favorite Jethro Tull Songs, 'Rainbow Blues'. I wouldn't call it greater than the original, but its still one of my favorites on the album, and a perfect rocker for anyone claiming that Ritchie sold out. 'Cartouche' is extremely addictive, and the gypsy/Eastern influences make it very fun to listen to. 'Just One Minute' is a sweet instrumental, with great use of the Spanish guitar. 'Loreley' is another standout, with pirate-like flavors. But the best song on the album is none other than the title track, 'Ghost of a Rose', which may as well be one of Blackmore's Night's most beautiful songs. The orchestration is amazing, and the use of medieval instruments is divine. That pretty much sums it up, 'Ghost of a Rose' is an album anyone should add to their 00's catalogue. This will leave fans Eagerly awaiting the new album out in 2013!
