New 2017 release from the neoclassical shredder from Japan. Surprised he released an album so soon. He has been releasing several very good singles but unfortunately they are not in this CD. Overture Of Destruction opens with a short but fierce classical instrumental which should have been longer. The song is a prelude to Road To Destruction which is a strong song and we find the band in great form. The same musicians that played on the much better previous album are present here. There are some songs that sound mix wise totally different. It seems that they were recorded in different locations at different times. An example of this is Close Your Eyes. A good tune but the voice sounds weak and the whole mix sounds like from a different recording. There are several ballads here and they sound similar. There is also a Japaneese version of one of the ballads. The other two highlight songs are Regeneration and the instrumental Opus #3. The longest song The Wrath Of Gaia sounds a lot like a bag of different solos from other known artists. Obviously there are plenty of Yngwie Malmsteen influences also. His best album is Sign Of The Times. That would be the one to start with if you are new to his music.
