I have listened to this album over and over again, and I can surely say it will never get old, every song has the same power every time. Bazan clearly writes from his heart, you can feel and hear his emotions, he writes his life in this music. His largely used metaphors are sometimes hard to decipher, but makes it all the more listenable, and even after they are deciphered, you just want to listen more.

Virginia is a song of one of his best friend, who has died while they were in high school together, a heart wrenching story and he pulls you along in it. He recalls all those close memories and shares them with us.

Wolves at The Door is a satire on what I can guess is corporations and religious institutions and how they trick you into surrounding you, but they take all you have, while you have no idea it is happening. As Bazan has taken the non-religious route after starting his solo music career he now tries to push what he realized they have done to him in his own life.

People is a simply put song, we are all people, we are good and bad, we have a moments, we all need to help each other by that we overcome our failings, and the truth we tell even if it troubles us, we won't mind because the truth feels good, and we've got to take what we've got in front of us.

Level with yourself is another straight forward song in that he tells himself he wants to level with everything, but his negativity is stopping him, and if you really want to level with yourself you have got to believe it like it's the truth, and just live.

He really is the man to listen to and to sing along with for that matter, all his songs wake you want to sing with him and be able to take his burdens. Highly suggest getting this song he is an amazing artist, check out his other bands Pedro The Lion, and The Headphones. I am also going to request Curse Your Branches, Alone At The Microphone, Live at Electrical Audio and Fewer Moving Parts be added because those are filled with musical genius as well.
