Tenderlyby George Benson

After a decade as a pop star, Benson returned to his jazz roots with this set. As the title implies, this is a ballad dominated affair, with swinging instrumental readings of "Stella" and "I Could Write A Book" and "At The Mambo Inn" providing contrast. The title track is just Benson and his guitar; elsewhere Benson showcases his chops as a jazz singer and guitarist, with a supporting cast that includes pianist McCoy Tyner and double bassist Ron Carter.
