The Afterman: Descension (Deluxe Edition)by Coheed And Cambria

The 2nd half of Coheed and Cambria's Afterman saga, entitled "The Afterman: Descension" is the perfect complement to "The Afterman: Ascension" and put together is the best thing Coheed and Cambria have ever done. "The Afterman: Descension" features 9 songs that are all of the highest prog quality that listeners have come to expect from Coheed and Cambria, but with a renewed energy as the lyrics reflect more of the daily life of frontman Claudio Sanchez. "Sentry the Defiant" and "The Hard Sell" are a reminder that when they want to be, Coheed and Cambria can bring heavy and hard-hitting riffs. However, the poppier moments are the strongest here as "Number City" is one of the most playful and delightful songs in Coheed's entire discography. The final trio of songs "Iron Fist", "Dark Side of Me", and "2 Is My Favorite 1" are all slower ballads and are a gorgeous way to close out one of the best albums of 2013. Everybody needs to get this one.
