The Bride Said No is a Progresive rock release with a strong early Genesis sound. Nad Sylvan sounds very similar to Peter Gabriel of the early 70s. If you are a fan of music from that era you will thoroughly enjoy this album. He has been the singer for Steve Hacket's touring band and fits right in. The stronger songs are "What Have You Done" with a great instrumental guitar section. It is the best song in this release. At over 8 minutes, it is prog joy. "The Quartermaster" starts off with a guitar riff with moog synthesizers and then evolves into a strong modern prog song. For moments it sounds like Big Big Train. "When The Music Dies" is a vocal oriented song with a drum loop, more chorus which creates a certain atmosphere to remember those who have passed away. "Crime Of Passion" starts with a middle eastern sound and then develops with an orchestral sound with intricate vocal parts.
Nad Sylvan reminds me of Steven Wilson in their approach to classic prog with a modern sound. Both blend very well. A good effort in this stagnant prog music era.
