"The Fine Print" is a very fine collection of DBT outtakes over the course of their early career, collecting rare tracks from that era that have never before seen the light of day. Listening to these songs, I had to ponder just how well many would have fit on their respective albums. The quality of every song is very high, and most seem up to par with the best of their album material. The highlight of this whole set has to be the fantastic "Play It All Night Long". In the album notes it refers to this song as being an outtake of "The Dirty South", but it sounds much more like it would have fit right into "The Southern Rock Opera". In fact, with its reference to Lynard Skynard in the chorus, it seems tailor made for that album. It is an awesome song with a punishing twin guitar assault that harkens back to the band's best two guitar attack songs like "Lookout Mountain" or "Where The Devil Don't Stay". Some other strong highlights are Jason Isbell's "TVA", "Goode's Field Road" and "The Great Car Dealer War", which would have fit seemleassly on "Decoration Days". There's even a staisfying cover of Tom Petty's "Rebels" on here. All in all, I have to say that "The Fine Print" is a fine album and a must buy for any DBT fan.
