Can't believe this dynamic duo is about to disband for good! It just seemed like yesterday that I was listening to one of their early productions Time To Wander and saw them playing and singing, "Time To Wander..." live in a gig back in 2010.

In Virtual Islands, each song is crafted with meticulous precision and passion, interspersed with those dreamy notes and ingenious riffs that are unmistakeably Gypsy & The Cat. It definitely feels more relaxed as well as contains more backing vocals and guitar riffs compared to the duos’ first album Gilgamesh. As with Miami Horror’s All Possible Futures and Henry Saiz’s Balance 19, I find my head nodding synchronously with the music… a telltale sign that it is that good!

For now, my personal favourite from this album are Inside Your Mind and Paris. I most certainly would play this on my mp3 player for an extended period and buy the physical album if available.

I own the physical album of Gilgamesh and love every single track (esp. Time To Wander, Jona Vark and Sight Of Tear). The loveable aspect about Gilgamesh is that I still play those three abovementioned tunes regularly six years later, a testament to Gilgamesh’s endurance against time and Xavier and Lionel’s musical prowness.

Having said that, I skimmed and skipped on The Late Blue as it felt like the final product was paler in comparison to its precedent in terms of creativity and personally harmonic riffs. However, they definitely returned to top form with their latest addition. This is the Gypsy & The Cat I felt in love with back in 2010. How sadly sobering Virtual Islands would be their final project together!

Definitely buy this album if you love the boys or good tunes! Get it quick!
