Also by MC Eiht Feat. CMW
MC Eiht had been coming up for a while as part of CMW (Compton's Most Wanted) when he was offered a role in the movie "Menace to Society". After such success, his confidence as rapper and musician, partly influenced by jazz, grew and he began to produce some of his tracks using CMW's long time producer as keyboard player in his first solo album, "We Come Strapped", which was credited as well to his group CMW. The result was a breakthrough album full of murky but funky melodies combined with jazz and R&B samples to rhytmic and memorable lyrics delivered with gusto in Eiht's rich baritone voice. Few Los Angeles or West Coast gangsta rap records have sounded so engaging and original since then, making it a really solid classic. "We Come Strapped" also kickstarted MC Eiht's successful and long lived solo career, which continues to this day. This is without a doubt the best entry point to it. Some remarkable tracks include "Def Wish III", "Take 2 With Me", "All For The Money" or "Niggaz Make The Hood Go Round", but the whole album is full of gems and brilliant moments.
