This album opens with a heart-wrenching ballad that seems to dive into the sacrifices of relentless hard work. The steel guitar sets a lovely melancholic tone, which perfectly matches Wayne’s raw vocals as he reflects on the emotional toll of striving for something greater. This track is a great start to the album, establishing the central theme of perseverance and grit that runs throughout the album. A track that stood out to me is Home's Call, which is perhaps the most intimate track on the album. “Home’s Call” is an acoustic number where Wayne’s storytelling really shines. The sparse arrangement lets the lyrics take center stage as he sings about longing for the simplicity and comfort of home. His voice cracks with raw emotion, which personally I think really draws listeners in. "Steel Strings and Bruised Knuckles" to me is one of the most musically intricate tracks on the album, this song blends elements of bluegrass and classic country. The rapid-fire banjo picking matches the intensity of the lyrics, which tell the super relatable story of a musician struggling to make ends meet. Wayne’s passion for his craft comes through loud and clear and I'd recommend this album to anyone looking for true musicianship and vulnerability in music
