"Yield" is the fifth studio album by Pearl Jam "comprised of Eddie Vedder on vocals, Jeff Ament on bass, Stone Gossard on rhythm guitar, Mike McCready on lead guitar, and Jack Irons on drums) and was released on February 3rd, 1998. The album debuted at number two on Billboard 200 and has been certified platinum by RIAA in the United States. Pearl Jam released three singles which included "Given to Fly" (peaked at number 21 on Billboard Hot 100), "Wishlist" (peaked at number 47 on Billboard Hot 100), and "Do the Evolution". This album was the last album for drummer Jack Irons in Pearl Jam.
The band took a more team effort into their fifth studio album with Eddie Vedder stepping down as the band's main songwriter. Every member was credited with writing at least one song. This album reminds me a lot of their early work. The song "Given to Fly" was even compared to Led Zeppelin's "Going to California". The lyrics are still similar to those of "No Code" as they sound more calmer than their angry early work. This album had the same mood throughout, which is very strange for a Pearl Jam album. I feel that this album proved that Pearl Jam matured from the beginning of their career.
