This '2-fer' CD of "Weeds"/"Tarkio" are actually the 2nd & 3rd LP's of Mid-Western duo Mike Brewer & Tom Shipley. Originally released on the Buddah/Kama Sutra record label, this is a great sounding CD package considering the lousy vinyl that those labels used to press in the 1960's and 1970's. There are some many great gems in this collection. "One Toke Over The Line" was actually their most well-known song, along with the FM staple "Tarkio Road". Jerry Garcia plays pedal steel on the great track "Oh Mommy". Brewer and Shipley's harmonies and guitar work very well together and their sound is very pleasantly identifiable. There are a lots of other special guest musicians on this CD, including Mike Bloomfield, Nicky Hopkins and Paul Butterfield. This CD are for fans of the Grateful Dead, New Riders Of The Purle Sage, Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Recommended!!
