Also by Rod Stewart
Rod the Mod rockers album in 1974 was where he headed to America with Warner Brothers records and Tom Dowd as producer who also did some earlier rhythm and blues artists to give a bit of a soulful rock sound. He did just what he wanted a rockin' soul classic, staring off with a true Rod style rock song -Three Time Loser- with horns and backup singers and great guitars, it kind of sounds like a old Faces song. Then we have a R&B classic-Drift Away- which he does a great job and gives it his own signature. All In The Name Of Rock And Roll and Stone Cold Sober - are true rockers from Rod with his flare with words. Rod is a bluesy singer at heart with a rock/pop attitude he knows how to sell himself , his vocals have a rough and ready sound and a soft side all in one with my favorite ballads -I Don't Want To Talk About It- and- Still Love You-these two songs are so poetic and just down right beautiful. Getting back to some soul with the Isley Brothers song-This Old Heart Of Mine- is a true gem and a great remake of the 60's classic. Then without a doubt one of the most heart filled beautiful song that will bring a tear to your eye is -Sailing- this is one of Rod Stewarts greatest moments, his voice is top notch and the music is truly a god send, and with this -Deluxe- package you get an accompaniment with Skye Boat Song. With this edition you get some alternate versions of the original songs from the album and the Bee Gees Classic -To Love Somebody- and even a Elvis and Otis Blackwell song with Booker T and the MGs, also Steve Cropper plays lead guitar on this album from Muscle Scholes and Atlantic Records session musicians. This is one of Rod's finest works and the 70's best classic records because it so diverse that it will go down in Music history as one of the best albums of all time , in my eyes anyway and hopefully yours too. So please listen to the whole album!
