This was the album where he proved that he could rock and write some of the best angst driven, dark felling and inspiring songs of the 70's. This was a tough vision of the American dream with songs like -Promise Land and Factory- fill your heart with pain and love, it was a look at what was going on in this country at that time and a where will go from here felling. Bad Lands has the same kind of feel but in a more positive note , which is why it could be more radio friendly and not to mention one of his best songs in my opinion . He also put aside any doubts that he couldn't rock out like other guitarists of that era with the straight out rocker -Adam Raised A Cain- what a great guitar solo on this one. On the song Candy's room he did the same thing with some great guitar licks and that 60's inspired story telling with a little bit of a speaking/singing intro part that is haunting to listen to. Prove It All Night- is a pop rocker with a hard edged love song feel to it and this was his second top 40 single for Bruce. This is a real testament to what a great artist he is and what a deep and honest album this one really is, and it will always be one of my favorite album from this Jersey Kid, You really need to listen to this one it is one of the greatest albums of that classic rock era.
