Big step forward for Redemption. 2018 release "Long Night's Journey Into Day", presents the band with a major change: vocalist Ray Adler is gone and Evergrey singer, Tom Englund, is in. Musically the band sounds top notch. Great riffs and solos. Wasn't sure how Englund would fit in being that Evergrey sounds dark and monotonous. At first I didn't like his singing but after several listens to the album I am getting used to his voice, although other singers come to mind that would have been a better replacement for Adler.

Eyes You Dare Not Meet In Dreams opens the album with aggresive riffs and tones. Problably the song in which Englund feels most comfortable. Great guitar and keyboard solos show what Redemption is capable of.

Next up is Someone Else's Problem which was the first single and probably best song in the album. Great song in the classic Redemption style. Blistering guitars and keyboards. Good lyrics

The Echo Chamber continues the musical style which thankfully has not changed. Odd time signatures and great drumming. Great Keyboard solos. It seems a political song with voice news overdubs in middle section.

Imperment is heavy, guitar shredding tune with a good melodic chorus which makes the song more accessable.

Indulge In Color slows down the pace of the first four tracks, but in a good way. It sounds like their premium style some albums back. Opening with a clean guitar sound and going into their classic style again.

Little Men is another brutal heavy song. Opens with much aggresiveness a la Metallica. Sounds like another political song.

And Yet opens with a slow piano and vocal ballad style. Seems like a part two to Someone Else's Problem. Another relationship song. The shortest song on the album but a very good one.

The Last Of Me opens with extreme drumming and different time signatures. Good vocal interpretation by Englund. Good rhythm section. Complex keyboards bridge before guitar solo.

New Year's Day is a cover from U2, which sees unnecessary for such a talented band. No need to put someone else's song in the album. A disappontment.

Long Night's Journey Into Day is their epic song with 10+ minutes. Aggressive Redemption meets an Enciclopedia of lyrics to accomplish a song that goes from dark to light.

Very good album in the classic vein of Redemption. A must for Progressive Metal fans.
