"Noise Floor" the 2018 release from Spock's Beard finds the band in top notch musical performance but not in the composition department. The band has suffered many member disruptions throughout the years and this has affected their song compositions. Neal Morse, main composer, lead vocal, keyboard player, was their best asset was the first to leave after the "Snow" double album. The band then struggled for a couple of albums before finding their new sound. Then Nick D'Virgilio who was their lead vocalist and drummer, left. Ted Leonard of Enchant came in as the new frontman to deliver the fabulous "Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep". After that Spock's Beard releases have not been that good. Although this is sort of a double album it doesn't have many good songs. The best and most comercial song is the first track "To Breathe Another Day" in which Ryo shines delivering a good keyboard solo. Track #2 "What becomes of me" is also a standout. "Have we all gone crazy" starts off well but then it misses on the compositional area to get the song going. "Box of Spiders" is a keyboard oriented instrumental song that also misses the mark.
