This is the Crass album that the women in the band were in charge of, a reflection of the communal principals of Crass, as well as acknowledging that they were male dominated ordinarily. Steve Ignorant is credited as not being on the album. A lot of the music is similarly angular and ferocious as the earlier Crass albums, heavily syncopated drum rhythms and immediate bass lines give a stomping backdrop for Eve Libertine and Joy De Vivre to rap acerbically over. The themes are brutal and unflinching, not to mention daunting, for example whether it's the 'rape of page 3' or a cosy little dormouse housewife cooking 'Something that appeals' for her slave other half, who she is the slave of. They'd almost paid the mortgage when the system dropped it's bomb, they opine at the end of 'Systematic Death', an homage to the meaninglessness of aspiring to domestic bliss via the channels provided by traditional societal values and norms. In the end your house will be evaporated and your office block too, and all of your toil and subservience, and the suppression of women as a vital part of this, will be as dust in the grim aftermath. This is angry music for people with their heads screwed on.
