Whiplash is one of those thrash metal bands that is still going today even though they started out 30+ years ago. Whiplash is also one of those bands that still talked about and still fairly underground. Granted, there are lots of new bands out there, but I like to go back in time and discover new music. Music I missed back in the day when I was just getting into it. Whiplash is one of those old bands that I just recently discovered and I'm glad I gave them a chance.

I always like to start at the beginning of a group's discography, so I started with Power and Pain from Whiplash. Right from the beginning, you'll notice this album screams 1980's thrash just from the production of the album. Like others, it has that raw sound. Power and Pain is thrash from start to finish and never lets up. I'll be honest, it's hard to just pick some tracks that stand out, but I'll try. Stage Dive, Last Man Alive, War Monger, and Power Thrashing Death are just awesome songs in my opinion, but really every song on this album is awesome (that's how much I enjoyed this). Every song is fast, some brutally fast, and I love the vocals on this. Every metal fan should listen to this and have a copy of it in their collection.
